Welcome to Episode 71 of The Weekly Brew podcast! It’s been a busy week in the city of Houston, especially for the titular University, which finds itself embroiled in a search for its next head football coach. Joseph Duarte, friend of the show, and Houston Chronicle UH beat writer joins us to discuss what exactly that search entails, the most ‘hot’ and most likely names being considered and what job number one is for the incoming HC.
Duarte also delves into what’s happening with the current crop of UH commits (SPOILER ALERT: Tom Herman is coming to steal them this week) and what it means to have Billion Dollar Buyer Tilman Fertitta front and center, from a media standpoint, in the midst of this search.
The guys also delve into bowl season, which is nearly upon us, and arrive at the conclusion that there are just too many of them. LeBron James was also named SI’s Sportsperson of the Year, and the guys consider who might have been named the Houston Sportsperson of the Year and at some of the worst retrospective picks on the list since 1954.
It’s another packed show, but it could be MORE packed if we had any iTunes reviews to read. Why not do us a favor and go to iTunes, click Ratings and Reviews and leave us a nice, little 5-star review with a blurb? We’ll read it on the air and make you super famous for a week, and it will just feel so, so nice.
And remember, no matter who you are, where you go or what you do this week, always, ALWAYS brew responsibly.
