On this 38th episode of The Weekly Brew podcast, we welcome back good friend of the show, Baylor alum and latest addition to the Houston Super Bowl Committee, Dolores Lozano, Golden State Warriors beat writer for the San Jose Mercury News, Diamond Leung and Taylor Soper of GeekWire.
Dolores, Austin and Kevin were all in attendance for last Monday’s National Championship game between Villanova and the University of North Carolina, and share their experiences being present for the first buzzer-beating game-winning three in NCAA Championship history and by consensus one of the greatest national title games ever. They then delve into some less-happy sports news, discussing the investigation into Shawn Oakman, another Baylor football player embroiled in a sexual assault scandal.
Next, Taylor Soper, of GeekWire, a writer covering the intersection of sports and technology, calls in to talk about Twitter’s deal with the NFL to stream 10 Thursday Night Football games this season, discussing why Twitter won the right to stream those games and whether the deal will have any impact on Twitter’s plummeting stock price and inability to draw and retain new monthly active users.
